AIR:Shift™ Workshop

Give us three days and we’ll change your world

The AIR:Shift™ Workshop is an entry point into a community of exchange, support and development fueled by cutting-edge online resources and a powerful curriculum. The workshops change people that attend in a way that is true and lasting.

Skilled facilitators lead small groups through exercises that produce hands-on experience in collaboration, planning, and challenging our mental models about art, business, money, and community. It’s totally unique in bringing together emerging and professional creatives with business professionals for a sustained, collaborative learning experience.

The Shift Workshop is designed to serve 36 people with four facilitators. Since 2012 writers, musicians, lawyers, accountants, small business owners, educators, visual artists, filmmakers and more have
participated.

Who Is It For?

The AIR:Shift™ Workshop is for everyone. Whether you are an artist, creative professional, designer, marketer, arts administrator, business owner, young professional or college student, AIR:Shift™ is made for you. It is for anyone who’s open to learning just how empowered they can be in their business, in their craft and in their community.

What Will I Learn?

As a creative professional :How the power of practical business skills can elevate your career or organization.

As a business or community member: How the power of the arts, creatives, and creativity can transform your business or community.

All participants: How to improve your collaboration, communication, problem solving, and presentation skills.

Curriculum Difference

AIR Programs provide artists, businesses and communities the tools, resources, and support to learn, connect, and ultimately succeed.
Hundreds of people across the Intermountain West participated in planning meetings and pilot workshops to build this curriculum into the powerful program that it is today. Three local volunteer committees met weekly for 3 months to synthesize regional feedback, research best practices and hone our goals, objectives, competencies, and the high level design of the curriculum itself.

An important shift emerged in the first month of work. We realized that providing business skills to artists was not enough for us to succeed in increasing the incomes, revenues, and quality of life of our regions’ artists. We recognized that we had to address the root causes that determine the VALUE of the arts and creativity in our communities.

The AIR curriculum merges the creativity of the arts with the innovation of business to provide attendees with invaluable knowledge and insight.

AIR programs have received attention and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation, and Americans for the Arts.
